The Reverend S. Ulysses Wainwright
The Very Reverend S. Ulysses Wainwright is a Victorian lay preacher.
He was born in a stately home in London Road, Kilmarnock, Scotland.
No one is quite sure when he was born, but, well established local sources indicate that it was around the year of our Lord 1885.
The stately home he was born in, a somewhat daunting black sandstone building, was built in 1757. The building was initially inhabited by a wealthy local businessman, James Walker, a Seed Merchant, who, it is claimed was dabbling in dangerous magick practices not of this earth, and, on one October evening, passers-by reported of a blinding flash with brilliant white lights emanating from every window in the house. The house was then suddenly enveloped in total darkness - James Walker was never seen again after that night.
The house is reputed to be haunted with reported sightings of an old hunchbacked man who makes a horrible gurgling noise and mumbles to himself?
The Reverend rarely talks about “that accursed den” as he calls it.
After spreading the gospel throughout Great Britain for many years, he then travelled to Europe and then onto the United States of America. In America, his journeys took him to dark, dark, places but he has saved many a soul on more than a few occasions.
He has encountered some very strange characters on his travels. Some borne out of the dusty carnivals of a long forgotten mid-west, some, helpless orphans of the ill-fated gold rush.
His good work continues.........................
